Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention & Event Centre transforms a former asphalt carpark into a landmark civic precinct offering world – class conference and exhibition facilities.The name Nyaal Banyul, meaning “open your eyes to the hills” in the local Wadawurrung language, reflects the centre’s cultural intent and connection to Country.
The core building houses a 1,000 – seat theatre, two expansive exhibition halls, meeting rooms, and flexible event spaces — designed to accommodate large conferences, banquets, and exhibitions with ease.

Complementing the venue is a 200 – room Crowne Plaza hotel, integrated food and beverage precincts, retail spaces, and an expansive public plaza linking to the waterfront and surrounding urban fabric.Sustainability is embedded in the design: the facility features a zero – carbon strategy, powered in part by a 1, 100 – panel solar array, and targets certifications like 5 – star Green Star and Climate Active Carbon Neutral.
Sara Stone have supplied around 2000m2 of flamed Australian Spinifex Flower Granite tiles, a material carefully selected by specifying Architect, Woods Bagot, for its colour, local availability, and connection to country.
